Phil Béna became a Christian in January of 1974 while pursuing a professional music career. Soon after his conversion, he was mentored by his pastor. Following this experience, he decided to serve God with his life and began his academic training in preparation for the ministry. Phil is a graduate of Shenandoah Bible College, Washington Bible College and Bowie State College. His formal training has been in the areas of Bible, theology, psychology and counseling.

Phil Béna was a member of the faculty at Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland for 31 years. There he chaired and taught in the Department of Psychology and Counseling. He is presently professor and program director for the Master of Arts and Master of Divinity Christian Care programs at Capital Seminary and Graduate School. In addition to his academic teaching, he is an assistant pastor at Grace Bible Church in Seabrook, Maryland where he has served since 1997. He maintains an active speaking and music ministry to various churches, institutions and organizations and has published four musical recordings. Previously, he served on the advisory board for the Pregnancy Clinics of Annapolis, Bowie/Crofton and Severna Park, Maryland. Presently, he is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and serves on the advisory board for Eleutheria Christian Counseling and Care. He has been married to his wife Brenda since 1978 and they have three adult children and two grandchildren.
